“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to just utter words, but to live by them.” John F. Kennedy
Gratitude, thankfulness, gratefulness, or appreciation is a feeling or attitude in acknowledgment of a benefit that one has received or will receive.
Studies have shown that people who practice gratitude have reported a number of benefits. Including lower blood pressure, stronger immune system, and tend to have stronger relationships. They also have more positive emotions and great control over their environment.
We are often told to count our blessings but sometimes that isn’t the easiest thing to do (especially when you are in a dark place in life). No matter who we are though, we have reasons to be thankful and express gratitude. Even if it’s the peaceful conditions in which you live. Or even the wrong turns, twists of fate, challenges we have in our lives, because isn’t every wrong turn a chance to learn from them.
I challenge you to find things in you life, no matter your circumstances, to be grateful for. In fact, I challenge you to do that everyday for a week. In tests, people who tried it each night for just one week were happier and less depressed, even months later.
It works even better if you express it out loud or pronounce to the world, so go ahead and leave your expressions of gratitude here. It might help you. It might even help someone to start “living by them”. It’s a simple action but one of the most powerful. So please comment with what you are grateful for!
