How To Stay Focused

staying focused

Being focused on what you are trying to accomplish is an absolute must in determining your success. Staying focused can help you listen to people better, help you come up with a solution to problems at a quicker speed and thus help improve your professional life. We all have goals and dreams but staying focused on them can be difficult with the constant stream of distractions in our day to day lives.
In our digital world distractions come from all directions and multi-tasking has become the norm. To add to our dilemma, we feel good when multi-tasking,. We get an emotional high when doing a lot at once. There are certain steps you can take to stop checking your Facebook and phone every 10 minutes.
Here are some tips on staying the course to achieving your goals and dreams.

Staying Focused:

1. Whatever you want to accomplish, fall in love with the process and not the end result. If you want to be an athlete, fall in love with practicing. If you want to be an author, fall in love with writing. If you want people to flock to your business, then fall in love with marketing. Fall in love with the processes and the results will come.
2. We have trained our brains to multi-task and be distracted. So you’ll have to train you brain to focus. You can start with shorter amounts of time and build from there. Concentrate on doing one task per day and build to doing more each day.
3. Get organized and keep it that way. Keep an organized space where you do your work and put distractions away. If you don’t need your phone to work on something put it away where it won’t distract you. This goes for anything else that isn’t relevant to what you are trying to accomplish. Clean your workspace of anything not needed for the task at hand. Take a few minutes at the end of each day to clean up and this will help you maintain a organized working environment.
4. Schedule your time deliberately. Studies have found that we only truly focus an average of 6 hours per week. Some of us are best at it in the morning, while others at night. Find when you do your best work and work your schedule around it. Leaving those times to focus on achieving your goals and dreams.

5. Make a list of what you have to do. Preferably the night before or you can do this on a weekly basis as well. Having a list of things that you want to accomplish will help you stay focused and motivated. Beside each task write down approximately the length of time it should take you to accomplish that task. Make sure to list everything, no matter how small or important. Checking accomplishments off the list no matter how small will give you a feeling of satisfaction. Prioritize your list by doing the hardest things first. You have a lot less capacity if you leave the harder tasks to the end. Reward yourself with scheduled breaks on your daily to do list. This will help you stay even more focused on completing your tasks for the day.
6. Don’t put things off. Avoid delaying things that need to be done for later. Do things now and move on to your next thing on your to do list.

7. Two more things that will help you in staying focused when you need to be. Exercising more! Try to schedule some physical activity in your daily routine especially during your breaks while completing your to do list. Read more! One of the many benefits of reading is training your brain to focus on one thing at a time.

Focus is like a muscle, the more you exercise it, the better you will become at it.

Video Marketing Tips For The Newbie

Video Marketing is a great way to get more leads and sales, but most find it one of the most difficult things to do. This blog post will help you with a simple structure and format on creating effective videos for your marketing efforts. If you learn how to capitalize on the power of  video marketing, you’ll get more exposure for your products or business. Creating videos is inexpensive and remain online forever. If you record a video just once, that video will still be viewed and be selling for you for years to come. YouTube is one of the top 3 websites in the world. Getting an estimated 3 Billion views per day. It only makes sense to capture a piece of that audience.

Using YouTube can also help you with your Google rankings since Google owns it and looks at content on their websites more favorably.

Video Marketing Tips

1. Introduction

  • Introduce yourself in every video. Don’t assume those watching know who you are.

2. Ask a Question

  • It will help those watching determine if they need to watch your video and your video’s aim should be to answer that question. ” Would you like to make better video’s?”

3. Educate

  • Teach your audience something. This will be the main part of your video. This can be done by providing a solution to a common problem tied into the question you started with. Always provide value to your audience.

4. Call to Action

  • Always have a call to action in your videos. You can tell them to visit your website or capture page. You can ask them to email you if you don’t have a website.

One of the  things to consider are branding your video. Place your website on the video or at the very least in the first line of your video’s description.  Make it easy for your audience to follow-up with your call to action. Also use effective keywords when tagging your video. Use those keywords in the title and description of the video. Don’t let perfection get in the way of getting started. Like anything else you will get better with practice. Know what you want to accomplish with your video and determine how much time you can devote to your video marketing. You will help your videos reach by sharing them to your different social media accounts. Hope this helps you to give video marketing a try. It can’t help but increase your business success.

Helping You Go Viral

Everyone of us puts out content hoping it will catch on and ends up going viral. Hoping to get millions of Youtube views or hits to our blogs, but take this into consideration. In today’s fast paced world and the world wide web’s ever growing reach, we produce more content in two days then all of civilization up to 2003, put together. You read right! According to Google’s Eric Schmidt, we are producing more information in two days than we produced in thousands of years.

So it’s safe to say that the chances of something we produce, standing out enough to go viral,  are pretty slim and none.

However, there are some things you could do to increase your chances of it being shared and seen by great numbers. And as in most cases of success, it’s predominant on the amount of effort you’re putting into it. Here are some tips in helping your content go viral and rising above the noise.

1. Be patient. Somethings don’t take off right away. They might remain dormant for a while or just build slowly. Some of your biggest successes will take months to reach.

2. Most of us know all of the big social media sites were our content can go viral like Facebook and Google+ but most people don’t know that Reddit is more important than you think when it comes to getting content to spread. In fact getting on Reddit’s first page is an absolute boost to your reach. Content takes off when people start sharing them on Social Networks so using them is an absolute must. Here’s some help on getting a link on Reddit’s First Page.

3. Great content is not enough in many instances. Sometimes it takes a great headline. Many people never read past it so it’s a good idea to spend a good chunk of time on it.

4. Try to connect people to you and your content by stirring up feelings. Many times it just takes something very subtle to accomplish that so don’t feel like you have to be out there! Trying to Inspire people usually works great.

5. Be timely. Most content is looked at by people at their work and between 9AM and 1PM EST. And then shared between 2PM and 3.30pm which Social Media traffic is the most heaviest. Tuesday’s are also best for releasing content. People are usually busy Monday catching up and the weekends are usually not a good idea as people are usually busy with other things.

6. Always use some kind of way to track your traffic. Be it a traceable link, Google Analytics or some other method. Also review that data frequently and try to figure out what’s working for you and what’s not.

7. Play the numbers. Post quality but also post quantity. Not everything will attract the kind of attention you are hoping for but your chances increase the more you have out there. Try many things. You only need one to pay off.

8. Look around for ideas. See what’s trending and constantly look for new material. There are thousands of websites you could monitor for new ideas and to pick up tips on reaching your audience.

9. Put in the time and be consistent. Don’t work for a couple of hours on something one day and then leave it for a couple of weeks. Successful people are obsessed with what they are doing and your results will be a measurement of the time and effort you put into your work. Always!

10. Know your target audience and make sure your content will make them look good or smart  if they share it. You’ll also go along way in making your content go viral if you can evoke some type of emotion from your audience. People are more likely to share something with others if it has stirred some emotion in them like joy, anger or disagreement. And we all like to help others so if your content does that it is more likely to be shared and go viral.

11. Make it easy for others to share. If you do so the more people will do it.

12. Sometimes only sharing a part of your content with the promise of the rest when your audience shares it with others works well.

Here’s 3 more tips from Professor Scott Galloway who explains why a private email to a late student in one his classes went viral and was read by over 11 million people.

The Importance Of Your Mindset

Brains and talent alone don’t guarantee success. Our mindset dictates the way we think and our actions. Mindset is defined as:

1. A fixed mental attitude or disposition that predetermines a person’s responses to and interpretations of situations.

2. An inclination or a habit.

Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck, with decades of research on achievement and success, discovered the power of our mindset. In her book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success she explains why it’s not just our abilities and talent that bring us success–but whether we approach them with a fixed or growth mindset.

What we think and say to ourselves can be the difference between the status quo and living the life we want and deserve.  Most of what holds us back comes from within rather than what others think of us or our circumstances.

If you want to start making changes in your life then start with your mindset. Make changes in the mindset areas that are acting as the roadblocks to your success.

Here are some simple ideas to help you in the journey to change from a fixed to a more growth mindset.

  1. Stop comparing yourself to others. Focus on you! What you want to do and achieve.
  2. Recognize your fixed mindset and understand that you have choices. You don’t have to keep reacting to the same situations in the same way. You have a choice!
  3. Stop thinking that you have to be perfect at something to do it. Don’t abandon your goals because you don’t know everything. People with great success in life fail most of the time but they keep “doing” it because they know only through practice will they achieve their goals.
  4. Talk back to your fixed mindset with a growth attitude. Give yourself a pep talk when you find that you are thinking negatively or reacting in the same old way. Challenge your critical thinking with your past achievements.
  5. Stop fearing failure. Fearing failure stops many of us from even taking the first step. Failing at something means that you tried. That you learned from the experience and that you will do it better next time.
  6. Don’t worry about what others think. Most people are not even thinking about you and those that are have no bearing on what you will do or achieve. Trying to please everyone is impossible. Everyone has their detractors so stop dwelling on them.
  7. Find yourself a role model or mentor that has accomplished what you are trying to do. The easiest method of achieving your goals is to follow the path of someone who has already done it. Better yet if they hold you accountable and help keep you on that path.
  8. “See” yourself achieving what you want. Take time to think how it will feel. Picture it in your mind. Tell yourself what you want out loud. How you will achieve it and what it will feel like when you do. Commit the same things to writing to galvanize your thoughts and keep them in front of you.
  9. Protect your growth mindset from others. There will always be people trying to drag you down. Be confident in yourself and be assured that you are the bigger person on the right path. Remember great achievers didn’t become so by doing what the majority do or caring about what others think.
  10. Read books and watch videos on mindset training. This will help you in picking up other ideas and practices in getting a growth mindset.

Are You Getting What You Paid For When Advertising On Facebook

I began noticing after running some Facebook Advertising campaigns that the majority of those engaging with my Facebook Page $10,000 A Month Club were from developing and third world countries. This was a couple of years ago now but it seems more and more people are taking notice of this problem.

Facebook also encourages you to advertise and promote your posts to get likes but then takes them away over time if you don’t keep paying to advertise. My page topped out at around 7500 likes but in the last six months I have lost about 60% of them and sit at 3108 today. All the while engagement with the posts is down by 90% as well.

This was also noted by some people and companies who spent a lot of dollars on advertising on Facebook. Mark Cuban and General Motors were very vocal while swearing off Facebook and their outrageous costs.

Here’s one of Cuban’s famous Tweets:mark

Facebook goes public.

Now with Facebook being a public company they’re more open to scrutiny. Many more are taking notice of Facebook’s advertising offers and the results they are getting from them. Some are questioning Facebook’s tactics and even going out of their way to speak out. Take a look at the following video (Facebook Fraud) found on the Veritasium Youtube Channel. Odd because Derek Muller’s channel is dedicated to educational science.

US State Department spends $630,000 0n Facebook Likes.

The US State Department spent $630,000 to acquire 2,000,000 page likes and then realized only 2% were engaged with their posts. Check out this article and Inspector Generals report. They’ve learned their lesson and are spending considerably less money on their advertising now.

Jaron Schneider is a portrait and commercial product photographer based out of San Francisco, California. Here’s one his articles “Likes or Lies?” where he exposes the practice of “like farming”.

The whole concept of Advertising on Facebook is crazy if you ask me. They want you to pay to get followers who couldn’t careless about what you’re offering and then want you to pay some more to engage with them. Here’s another of  Derek’s video’s (The Problem With Facebook) on his Veritasium channel.

What do you think? Have you done any advertising on Facebook? What kind of results did you get?

Attraction Marketing: How to attract people to you.

Attraction-MarketingAttraction Marketing is learning not to be focused on trying to make a sale, but focused and centered on what people are looking for.  People are always looking for a leader who can show them what to do. They want to learn. So leading with educational information about things that you can teach them, and by the very nature of you doing that, you become a leader in their mind.

Showing people how to get what they want faster, or avoid mistakes by helping them get access to “secrets”, is the easiest and most attractive marketing theme on the planet. By being an educational based marketer you open up the minds of the people out there to how it’s possible to insert a sales message without people knowing. Teaching them something they want to learn about is the fastest way to open some one’s mind.

Marketing is the communication you put in front of your target audience. Attraction Marketing can be fun if you frame it in your head right. Get confident and stop being attached to the outcome. You don’t have to worry about “salesmanship” or learning “sales tactics”, if you just stay curious and interested in other peoples deepest desires before trying to sell them your stuff.

Relationships are the key to long term success because how many people are paying attention to you is the only leverage you will ever have to get paid for the stuff you do and sell. But you have to get more then just their attention, they have to care about what you have to say.

Attraction Marketing: Leader vs Follower

A Leader is a person who sees the future. They see how to make something better and come up with an idea or concept that will usually relate to creating a service, product, business, or opportunity of some kind. A Leader is dissatisfied with the options out there and sees a need for change. Being a Leader requires experience and involves risk.

A Follower is a person or group who may not be incline to be Leaders, but because they are inspired by the vision, they want to help carry it forward. Being a Follower does not limit you from also being a leader within someone else’s vision. Follower’s build the asset and create social proof for the Leader. And because of this don’t necessarily make less money then the Leader.

Become a Leader by becoming a trusted advisor. Attraction Marketing works, because you are starting with your prospects needs in mind. Think of their problems, and use problem solving strategies, and answering their questions before they even know you, or choose to do business with you. You’re giving solutions to their issues before trying to sell them something.

Become a Leader by teaching. Teaching establishes you as an expert in your field. It demonstrates your leadership, without you having to flaunt it. And it helps you build trust and relationships with the people you are trying to attract and need your help. You already have valuable information to share. Don’t worry about “giving it away for free”. Consider it an investment in your business. New people, especially when it comes to advertising on the web, need help understanding the basics. Teach them what you have learned and experienced.

Students answering questions in math class with teacher

In this day and age most people are asking their questions on line and the internet makes it much easier for you to establish yourself as a Leader. You can present your answers in many ways and forums that will reach more people then you could ever imagine. You can present your answers one on one, Youtube videos or writing articles just to name a few. Because you’re creating content on the Internet it will probably outlive us all. You can create content once,  and not have to create it again! Unlike face-to-face presentations which you have to re-delivered each time. It frees up your time, allowing you to focus on other aspects of your business. You don’t have to create new information either. There’s plenty out there already, but you can make what’s out there easier to understand or use.

Since Attraction Marketing is about captivating your target market to want to do business with you because of who you are and not what you have, there’s no better way then becoming their teacher or mentor to accomplish that.
